Lemmington Woods

Area Description

A slice of Northumberland esoterica that is easily accessible and with a handful of problems that make this a pleasant trip out for the adventurous boulderer. The main crag area remains reasonably clean but a brush will be useful as there is no traffic. The boulder 50m before the main crag is often green and dirty but the problems once clean are excellent.

Location and Approach

From the A697 Morpeth to Wooler road: Take the B6341 as for Edlingham and Corbys. Shortly after passing the parking for Corbys take a left turn towards Lemmington. Follow the road to a large layby just before a bridge (old railway line). Cross the road and take a track up to the old railway line (no tracks incidently) which leads to a boulder on the left after 5 minutes and the main crag area just beyond.
Public Transport:Buses to Alnwick followed by a couple of hours walk.
